How do Splinterlands work?

Splinterlands is a card-based game that allows you to own NFT cards to battle against other players. You can do many things with your NFT cards, including battling, combining cards, burning to obtain Dark Energy Crystal, trading on the market, and also for collection. Splinterlands is fast-paced, allowing you to get money by playing, and time per match only takes 2-3 minutes. There are several rewards, such as ranked battle, daily focus, season, loot, and leaderboard rewards. You can earn both ranking points and Dark Energy Crystal for each ranked battle won. Players in higher leagues with significant power ratings earn a substantial amount of Dark Energy Crystal with each win.

WHAT ARE THE BASIC GAME MECHANICS?

Before you play and enjoy Splinterlands, it's better to know the basics of the game mechanics first.

1. Card Types

   

   There are two types of cards, Summoners and monsters. Summoner is a magic user that uses power to summon monsters, and the monster is a creature called by a Summoner to do battle.

2. Elements

   

   There are six sources of magic, fire, water, earth, life, death, and dragon. Summoner uses magic to summon different races, habitats, and creatures of the same element. For example, Summoners of the earth element will summon monsters living in mountains and forests. 

3. Card Basics

   

   Now, look at one of the cards above. 

   • Mana Cost: These costs will impact how you create your team.

   • Stats : The numbers reflect the cards' physical speed, toughness, and health of the cards.

   • Element/Rarity: Represents Element, and color indicates Rarity

   • Name: Name of the cards.

   • Level: Level of the cards.

   • Experience: Green bar indicates your progress to the next level.

   • Abilities: Special skills that are used during combat.

4. Stats

   Stats are the core attributes of the character. 

   • Melee Attack

   

   Slashes enemies up close, must be in the front row. Damage is assigned to the enemy armor before health is affected. Have a chance to miss.

   • Ranged Attack

   

   Attack from a distance. They must not attack from the front row. Damage is assigned to the enemy armor before health is affected. Have a chance to miss.

   • Magic Attack

   

   Using a magic attack, do damage from any row. Damage directly to health, never miss.

   • Speed

   

   Determines the order of the character's attacks, making the character more difficult to hit with a melee or ranged attack.

   • Armor,

   

   The enemy must use up the character's armor before any damage is applied to the defender's health. If the attacker destroys the defender's Armor, any extra damage from the attack will be lost.

   • Health

   

   Cards health, when reached zero, it died.
   

5. Abilities

   There are so many abilities in Splinterlands that make the fights interesting. The abilities currently in the game like immunity, heal, taunt, double strike, etc.
