Axie Classic is back! The original version of Axie Infinity, the popular blockchain game that lets you collect, breed, and battle cute creatures called Axies, has returned for a limited time.
Axie Classic was the first iteration of the game, launched in 2018, and featured a simpler gameplay and art style than the current version. It was discontinued in 2020, when Axie Infinity: Origins, the polished and updated version of the game, was released.
However, due to popular demand from the community, the developers have decided to bring back Axie Classic for a nostalgic trip down memory lane. From November 15 to December 15, 2023, players can access Axie Classic through a special link and relive the glory days of the game.
Axie Classic is not just a fun way to revisit the past, but also a chance to earn some rewards primarily the newly introduced AXP. Players who participate in Axie Classic will be eligible to win prizes such as AXS tokens, the native cryptocurrency of the Axie Infinity ecosystem, and NFTs, such as rare Axies and land plots.
To join the Axie Classic event, players need to have at least three Axies in their inventory. They can then use their Axies to battle against other players or AI-controlled enemies, called Chimeras, in the Adventure mode. The battles are turn-based and involve using cards that represent the moves and abilities of each Axie.
Players can also breed their Axies to create new ones with different traits and genes. Breeding costs a small amount of ETH, the cryptocurrency of the Ethereum network, and SLP, the in-game token that is used for various purposes in the Axie Infinity ecosystem.
Axie Classic is a great opportunity for both new and veteran players to experience the game in its original form and appreciate how far it has come. It is also a testament to the power and passion of the Axie community, which has grown exponentially in the past year and has become one of the largest and most active in the blockchain gaming space.
